CITIZEN DONAHUE

Judy Briscoe

As Tom's birthday was approaching, I think his 46th,  the KSAN crew decided to throw a party and Bob McClay and I got this idea to put together a tape for people who wouldn't be able to be there. It was such a blast to do it, you can hear the laughing and giggling in the background. We managed to contact a large number of Tom's old friends, relatives, record company honchos, promotion people, deejays and others.

Those participating included Peter Boyle, Howard Hesseman, Tony Pigg, Don Graham, Les Crane, Joe Niagara, Dede Donahue, Grace Donahue, Pete Marino, Morgan Upton, Tommy Smothers, Harvey Miller, Carl Scott, Humble Harv, Peter Bergman, Jo Bergman, B. Mitchell Reed, David Steinberg, Bob Kraznow, Johnnie Hayes, Mervin Harmon and many more. We were very fortunate to be able to contact so many voices from the past.

About half way into the party we put the tape on and it was a big hit. Tom just freaked out and laughed his hearty laugh. The party went on in the KSAN offices for some time. I don't think the tape was ever played on the air.
